L. Morgan, formerly known as Henroy Morgan is the son of Henrietta and Lester Morgan. LG Morgan whose given name at birth, Leevel George Morgan began singing at the age of 6 at Full Truth Church of God in St. Catherine Jamaica where his mother remains the pastor after 30 years in the Ministry.
By the time LG was 13 years old, he was sneaking out of church early in order to join other musical entertainers performing dancehall style music. Although this often got him into trouble with his mother, LG’s father, Lester Morgan realized that his son had a passion for dancehall music and he began to support LG. Despite having many ups and downs while performing dancehall music, LG continued to develop and hone his singing skills. He recorded his first single “Hey Girl” with Arabic Records and soon teamed up with Stereo One Sound where he performed alongside artists like Stichie, Wolfman and manyothers. He later followed up performances with various reggae artists such as Sanchez, Flowagan and Beenie Man. LG migrated to Canada in 1989 and settled with relatives in Toronto, Ontario. Still having that burning passion for dancehall music, LG was now performing with Canadian dancehall artists such as Inspector Lenny and Wally Richie which led him to work with Creation sound. While at Creation Sound, LG recorded three songs “How could 1 live without you”, “When love come knocking” and “Love the girl”. In 1990 his smash hit “Just when I needed you most” spent 13 weeks at number 2 on the charts and propelled him as a house-hold name and sort after dancehall act in Toronto.
By April of 1999, it became apparent to LG that he needed a change in his life. LG started attending Church again upon returning from Jamaica to visit his parents and grandmother. He attended a Sunday service at West Toronto Church of God and was moved by a persuasive sermon by Pastor George S. Peart. It was at this time he realized his calling by God. Months later on January 26, 2000 with his loving and devoted wife Aldene Morgan by his side, the couple were both baptized at West Toronto Church of God. They are the proud parents of two children Lucreshia and Alexander Morgan.
It was during a Sunday Morning service that LG’s gave a testimony informing the congregation that he was once a reggae artist known as Henroy Morgan. The congregation urged LG to sing a song of worship but he declined. Eight months later he got a calling from the Lord to sing “Because He lives”, the congregation loved his rendition of the song. Since that day LG Morgan continues to sing songs of worship and proclaim God’s will to various audiences through his profound upbeat styles of Gospel music. Special thanks to all of God’s children who endure to fulfill his work, through Christ teachings as well as through gospel music.
